We love Aubrie Costello!!

Would you like to have a wall tagged with some 'Silk Graffiti'? Aubrie Costello is your woman for the job! Philadelphia based artist Aubrie found her inspiration in the street graffiti culture of her city. By piercing nails into shredded ribbons of silk she creates beautiful wall art. She describes her work as: "A commentary on a hyper masculine graffiti culture. It gives a feminine, domestic twist to the otherwise predominately male-centric act of graffiti writing". And this is true, the words and the way her graffiti looks, is very feminine, but at the same time filled with a certain power. We would love to have a wall in our office tagged, but due to 'lack of free wall', Souraya received a nice package with a tagged tank top!

Aubries artwork consist of more than just the graffiti, she does performances, installations and loves to do collaborations. Her website is definitely worth a visit!

East London Design Show, it's over...

We had a great time at the ELDS meeting some very lovely customers and exhibitors. And of course, jewellery lovers as we are, we bought ourselves some pretty nice pieces! But it wasn't all shiny what we liked, there were so many lovely products, we didn't know where to begin looking. With a much bigger venue as well, 40 extra exhibitors participated, it was the perfect place to do our christmas shopping.

If you missed ELDS, don't worry, most of the participants have an online shop.

Here are some of our favourites:

1. Muru, 2. Threedom, 3. Wolfram Lohr, 4. The Journal Shop

Hello Paul Smith!

'Hello, my name is Paul Smith', the new exhibition at the Design Museum is definitely a go to! The exhibition takes you on a tour into the world of Paul Smith, starting from the very beginning to the label's success it is now and will offer a unique insight into his magnificent mind. Explore the different stages of design and production behind a collection, the collaborations and take a look behind the scenes with reconstructions of his office and studio.

For those who can't get enough, why not go for the big tour 'Behind the scenes - Paul Smith'? You will learn how the Design Museum planned the exhibition and will be shown round Paul Smith's London HQ!

Cheeky Shoes by ESSKA

Cheeky Shoes by ESSKA

A few months ago we bumped into Marcin from Cheekyshoes. Nice chap, even if he does have an un-pronounceable name.

His business sells just one product. Incredibly comfortable shoes that… wait for it… get delivered through your letterbox.

By digging a little deeper we realised that both Esska and Cheekyshoes were started for the same reason: to provide you with beautiful shoes that make you feel confident, but don’t wreck your feet.

One thing led to another and we decided to go for it.

And no, before you ask, we’re not getting married.

We decided to collaborate together: 'Cheekyshoes by Esska'

Designed by Souraya and made in the Cheekyshoes factory in the East End of London, here are 3 reasons you should be excited:

-          They’ll probably be the most comfortable shoes you’ll ever wear

-          Designed by Souraya herself, they’re going to be real lookers

-          Made in England. Let’s stop ranting about the recession and support our

           local industries.

However, there is one really bad thing about this collection: It will only be out in SS14, but available in all good shoe shops!

Ghost Gold - a first outing!

Naadu from the Esska office is wearing her Gold Ghost's for the first time this Spring! Who cares if it's grey and a little chilly when feet can look this pretty?

Behind the scenes....Micam tradeshow Milan

Esska stand at Micam Tradeshow. www.esska.co.uk

Last week Esska showed at Micam Tradeshow once again in Milan to showcase our AW13/14 collection! We had a fabulous time as always meeting new and existing clients and talking them through our collection. We loved our new look stand that was in the International designers area had a great time mingling with other footwear brands from the UK. Aside from all the hard work we also found time to enjoy the delights of Milan and had some fun (of course!).....here are some of our pics from our trip, see you next time Milan.

Our Premiere Classe favourites

We were in Paris a few weeks ago showing at the trade show ‘Premiere Classe’. Whilst having a look around we spotted some brands we loved and have highlighted some of them. We adored the paper jewellery of Sandra Di Giacinto, the gorgeous handbags of Delphine Conty, the cutest Haflinger children’s slippers, the beautiful sophisticated jewellery from Anne Thomas, and of course not to forget an updated version of Esska‘s best selling style Hanya for next winter in aubergine patent!

Behind the scenes… Next winter’s collection showed in Paris.

Yes!! we have designed our Autumn Winter 2013/14 collection, received the samples, did our photoshoot, and started selling!! I just can’t believe how fast the whole cycle is…

Our first trade show was in Paris, at the famous ‘Premiere Classe’, part of ‘Who’s next’. It was me and Noura who went to Paris. I really had to go, so I can make sure the French wine and food standards have not changed.

Here is our little journey, and the start of a fantastic selling season.
